The Roth Corner
The Bistro’s interior was designed by Bj?rn Roth, and he dedicated one of its corners to his father, the Swiss artist Dieter Roth (1930-1998). Dieter Roth lived and worked in Sey?isfj?r?ur for periods of time during the last decade of his life, and he had a great influence on the local cultural life. The Skaftfell Group, who founded the art center, were a number of people who?enjoyed the company of Roth, and the art center is an offspring of their inspiring dialogue. The shelves and table in the bistro’s Roth Corner are made in the same way as Roth’s working tables in his studio. Paper and pens are always available on the shelf, and all drawings, sketches and scribbles which the guests leave behind are collected and bound together to make an annual book,?referencing?the magazine Review For Everything?published by Roth 1975-1987. This magazine had no editor and published literally everything. Older volumes of the magazine and?the?annual?books of drawings are?on display in the Skaftfell Library.
During the busy summer months Dieter Roth’s books are kept in the Skaftfell bookstore on the middle floor and can be viewed there.
