Join the FLOCK workshop with Rachel Simmons in Sey?isfj?r?ur!?The workshop includes taking a birdwatching walk around town and then making colourful bird prints together in the afternoon. Rachel Simmons is an artist and art educator from the United States, and the current artist-in-residence at Skaftfell. Her ongoing work FLOCK (2015-2022) is a socially engaged art project that encourages communities to see their daily interactions with neighbourhood birds as opportunities for creative expression. Its comprised of more than one hundred relief prints, cut into a variety of bird silhouettes, each one inked and printed by participants across the United States and later this month, also in Sey?isfj?r?ur. The bold patterns and rich colors represent each participants creative choices, but together the birds that make up FLOCK become a collective expression of our relationship with nature.
