Artist in residence Kristen Mallia and students of Seyðisförður School take part in List í Ljósi 2020

Skaftfell’s artist in residence Kristen Mallia (US) has been teaching a short workshop for school children in Seyðisfjörður, working with light and darkness and the unexpected outcome while using a scanner in an unorthodox and playful manner.

With the outcomes of the workshop, the children will participate in the annual List í Ljósi light festival on 13.-15. February, daily 18:00-22:00. Location: Norðurgata 5, visible from Ránargata/Fjörður.

Kristen Mallia is an artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Her installations, printed matter, and time-based media are deeply rooted in iteration and process, and examine the roles of preservation, performance, and collection in our daily lives. Embracing both analog and digital materials, Mallia examines how time, memory, history, and the labeling/framing of content inform our understanding of value. Kristen Mallia currently teaches at Boston University and Massachusetts College of Art + Design. She is artist in residence at Skaftfell in February and March 2020.
