Neighbours is an artist talk and reading event co-organized by Yen Noh and Inga Danysz, who are current artists-in-residence at Skaftfell. Having resided in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur for a month, they will share their artistic approach, read their works, and show a number of things that are relevant to their present living in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Engaging in various media such as sculpture, performance, and writing, the artists will create a round of dialogue and warm temperature in Skaftfell’s Draumah\u00fas residency at Nor\u00f0urgata.\u00a0Soup, tea and coffee will be served, and guests are also welcome to bring their own drinks.<\/p>\n

Artists bios<\/h3>\n

Yen Noh<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(b.1983) has received a BFA from Hongik Universit\u00e4t in Seoul and a MA in Transdisziplin\u00e4re Kunst from the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Looking into\u00a0the unclosed gap between the \u201coriginal\u201d and \u201ctranslation\u201d in cultural relativity, Noh takes language and translation as her themes to produce \u2018speech performance\u2019 in which a spoken language becomes a critical agent to rethink the relationship between spoken language, speaking body and its mind. Recently, she has re-examined the history of the translation of European modernist aesthetics into Japan and Korea under Japanese rule in Korea. She is concerned with an\u00a0\u201carchival mind\u201d\u00a0in action and togetherness, in order to create a temporary, yet intimate community of thinking, dialogue and discourse.<\/p>\n

Inga Danysz<\/a><\/strong> (b.1990) is an artist based in Frankfurt am Main. She studied at Cooper Union, New York and graduated from the St\u00e4delschule in Frankfurt am Main (2015). She recently graduated as an artist-in-residence at the post-graduate programme De Ateliers, Amsterdam (2015-17) and was awarded the Columbus Advancement Prize for Contemporary Art (2016).<\/p>\n
