The work is exhibited at Her\u00c3\u00b0ubrei\u00c3\u00b0 \u00c2\u0096 community center, untill August 31<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.skaftfell.is\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/20120822_jr_72.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3057\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3057 lazyload\" title=\"JR_72\" data-src=\"https:\/\/archive.skaftfell.is\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/20120822_jr_72-500x461.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"461\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 500px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 500\/461;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The idea behind <em>Trying to teach Icelandic while living in Germany<\/em> was born during Jens first residence in Sey\u00c3\u00b0isfj\u00c3\u00b6r\u00c3\u00b0ur in September 2010. It\u00c2\u0092s the complement of the artwork <em>Trying to teach German while on residency in Iceland<\/em> which he was working on at that time.<\/p>\n<p>In this piece the artist is interested in the discrepancy between sound i.e. pronunciation and meaning of words and language. The work is about people\u00c2\u0092s relation to their mother tongue and therefore will be completely understandable only for Icelanders\u00c2\u0085.<\/p>\n<p>Jens Reichert (born 1967) lives in Freiburg, Germany. He will be staying for the month of August at the dreamhouse in Nor\u00c3\u00b0urgata \/Skaftfell, as an artist in residence.
