The group consists of a number of people who care about the interests of Skaftfell, what characterises the group is its connections on the one hand to the world of fine arts and on the other hand to Seyðisfjörður.
The group has two representatives on the Skaftfell board in addition to two senior members, whose role is to ensure that Skaftfell develops and thrives in accordance with Skaftfell's original ideology and in line with international trends and policies in the art world.
In addition to electing representatives to the Skaftfell board, the group is there for Skaftfell's managers when needed, whether it is for discussions and deliberations or to lend a hand in defined projects.
It is very fun to be a member of the Skaftfell Group, formal meetings are minimal, but the general meeting is held every 3 years, in line with the renewal of Skaftfell's board. Other meetings are primarily held to work on projects for the benefit of Skaftfell and to enjoy meeting each other. The group's board works with the director of Skaftfell to strengthen the group's activities and places great emphasis on recruitment within the group.
Anyone who cares about Skaftfell is encouraged to become a member of the group. In addition to contributing to supporting Skaftfell's activities, group members also receive regular newsletters about the activities and are placed on an invitation list for exhibitions. Group members are also offered special deals on selected materials in the Skaftfell store and are given the opportunity to pre-purchase all materials that Skaftfell publishes or produces, if possible.
Membership fees are charged annually and the payment and its amount are voluntary, although the target is 3,500 ISK. Membership fees from members of the Skaftfell group go directly and unrestrictedly to Skaftfell's activities.
