Artist talk: Brooke Holve (US), Catherine Richardson (UK/US), Eve Provost Chartrand

Join us for an artist talk with Skaftfell’s current residency artists on Wednesday, September 28, 17:30-18:30 in the Skaftfell apartment (top floor). Coffee and biscuits will be served.

Brooke Holve lives and works in the small town of Sebastopol, CA, about an hour north of San Francisco. Inspired by the natural processes of landscapes, her work investigates the nature of shaping, in particular the interactions of internal/exterior processes with materials and language. She is artist-in-residence at Skaftfell for the month of September 2022.

Catherine Richardson lives and works in-between London, UK, and Healdsburg, Northern California. Her work, mostly drawing and painting using a mix of materials, charts landscape and is informed by its geological structures, geomorphology (describes forces acting on Earth’s surface producing landforms and landform change), scale and history, fortuitously illuminating her relationship to place. She is artist-in-residence at Skaftfell for the month of September 2022.

Eve Provost Chartrand was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at UQAM where she also studied museology and visual semiotics. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 2019 with a Master of Fine Art and is now pursuing postgraduate studies in Creative Research at Liverpool John Moore’s University (UK) in conjunction with Transart Institute. She is artist-in-residence at Skaftfell for the months of September and October 2022.
