
The Authors’ Train’s annual tour of East Iceland will be from the 6th-9th of November. This year, the following authors are on the train: Ásgeir Hvítaskáld, who presents a historical novel about East Iceland events called Saklaust blóð í snjö; Nína Ólafsdóttir with her first novel, Þú sem ert á jérðu, which has received good reviews; Óskar Þór Halldórsson with an interesting book about the Akureyri disease and Gunnar Helgason presents his latest children’s book, Birtingur og símabannið mikla. Ása Þorsteinsdóttir has a newly published book of poetry, Hjartað varð etir and Ása Hlín Benediktsdóttir presents the book Hallormsstaðaskógur – söguljóð fyrir förn, which was published this summer and attracted well-deserved attention.
At each stop, more publications related to the East will be introduced and more writers may join the group.

The Writers’ Train is a collaborative project between Gunnarsstofnun, Skaftfell, the Fjarðabyggð Cultural Center, the Múlaþing Cultural Department and the Vopnafjörður Municipality Cultural and Employment Committee.
The project is supported by the East Iceland Development Fund, Síldarvinnslan, Alcoa, Atlantsolíju, the Neskaupstaður Fishermen’s Association, Akureyri Car Rental, the Egilsstaðir Guesthouse as well as the book publishers Forlagisinn, Svarfdælasýsl and Frjálz orð.

Friday 7 Nov. At the Old Commercial Association in Breiðdalsvík at 16:30 and Hotel Framtíð, Djúpivogur at 20:00
Saturday 8 Nov. Children’s and youth reading with Gunnar Helgason and Særúna Hlín Laufeyjardóttir at the Neskaupstaður Museum at 13:00 and a reading with all the writers at 14:00.
Sunday 9 Nov. at Skriðuklaustur at 13:30 – the event will also be streamed
