TRARAPPA

Each year third year students from the fine art department at the Icelandic Art Academy participate in a two week workshop in Seyðisfjörður. The workshop is a collaboration between the Icelandic Art Academy, the Dieter Roth Academy, Skaftfell and the Technical Museum of East Iceland.

All students use the extraordinary nature of Seyðisfjörður and the unique hospitality of the locals to their advantage in their work process. The possibilities are endless and the works are versatile. One student has for example worked closely with the explosive specialist of Seyðisfjörður while another has chosen to collect the laughter of locals. Other students have focused on the surroundings of the fjord but all with different emphasis.

The exhibition Trarappa opens on Saturday March 2 at 16.00 in Skaftfell where guests can see the products of these last two weeks. The group has a blog where you can follow the preparation for the exhibition and their daily life; http://trarappa.tumblr.com. The exhibition is open until May 5.
