Hanna Christel Sigurkarlsdóttir býr og starfar á Seyðisfirði þar sem hún fæst við ýmis konar menningartengd verkefni. Hún útskrifaðist með BA gráðu úr fjöltæknideild Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2002. Hún hefur aðallega unnið með rýmistengdar innsetningar með það í huga að rýmið sjálft hafi áhrif á áhorfendur í samspili við efniskennd og liti og jafnvel hljóð eða gjörning. Undanfarið hefur hún unnið með lágmyndir sem spretta út frá sömu pælingum nema í minni skala þar sem rúmfræðilegir fletir, áferð og andstæður í efniviði og samspil lita spila inn á huglæga skynjun áhorfenda. Í verkum sínum notar hún endurtekið textíl til að kalla fram liti og áferð. Lagskiptir fletir efnisbúta og pappír er raðað hvert ofan á annað þannig að sýnileg og ósýnileg rými mætast.

Hanna Christel Sigurkarlsdóttir lives and works in Seyðisfjörður, as a project manager in various cultural projects. She graduated in 2002 with a B.A. from the multimedia department in Iceland Academy of the Arts. She has worked mainly with spatial installations with a focus on the sense of material, space and colour and sometimes sound and even performance. Lately she has worked on reliefs which come from the same thought process but in a smaller scale where geometrical forms, texture and contrast in material and interplay of colours, plays with the subjective perception of the viewer. In her work she repeatedly uses textile to represent colour and texture. Layered forms of fabrics and paper are arranged on top of each other where visible and invisible spaces meet.
