Ra Tack: Small Works

Ra Tack (b. 1988) is a Belgian painter and sound artist, living and working in Sey?isfj?r?ur, Iceland. Their paintings oscillate between abstraction and representation, often rendered in oil on large canvases. This installation features recent smaller works in oil stick on paper that are more intimate in scale. Tacks compositions are composed of lush, expressive textures and colours, and deal with themes of transition, duality, love and longing.

Tacks work has been exhibited widely, including solo and group exhibitions in London, Ghent, Berlin, New York, Copenhagen, and Marrakech. One of the leading painters working in East Iceland today, their work will be featured in a forthcoming exhibition at ?smundarsalur in July-August, 2023.

The Skaftfell Bistr? exhibits works by artists local to Sey?isfj?r?ur and the East Fjords of Iceland. Tacks work is shown here alongside watercolours by the German painter Bernd Koberling, who summers in nearby Lo?mundarfj?rdur, and original prints by the Swiss-German artist Dieter Roth (1930-1997), who lived and worked in Sey?isfj?r?ur in the last decade of his life.
