Áslaug Íris Katrín Friðjónsdóttir & Nicholas Brittain

The West Wall Gallery

28.06 – 15.07.2008

Contemporary Composer and Artist Nicholas Brittain will showcase his latest work entitled Polar Bear Cycle at the Skaftfell Gallery in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. His latest work, “strictly a sound-art tape piece”, is the final movement within a group of pieces that are inspired by the tension between the ideas of mythology and logic. The last movement within the cycle of pieces was entitled Kyrie Eleison Cycles and was presented during the Hallgrímskirkja Festival of the Sacred Arts during their 2007 festival.

Áslaug makes an installation on the wall, which consists of paintings on paper and paint that flows out towards the defined space of the wall. As the artist puts it: This way definitions of what is a painting, sculpture or installation fades, as the work is either one or none of those.

The exhibition is a part of the series SJÓN HEYRN /AUDIOVISION, curated by Ingólfur Arnarsson & Elísabet Indra Ragnarsdóttir.
