Sarah Deibele is a German artist, lecturer and illustrator based in Halle (Saale). In her drawings and prints, she portrays remembered landscapes dissected into their individual parts and reassembled as multiple traces on paper. Sometimes she feels as if her drawing is like writing. Sarah’s style finds abstraction in the dancing variety of lines. The play with surfaces, line, tilted perspective, sequence and rhythm nourishes her playful creative freedom on paper. Sometimes she feels as if her drawing is a choreography, so to speak.

During her stay at Skaftfell Art Center – funded through the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt – Sarah will draw the mystic landscape. The impressions of the journey rotates in her inner photographic memory, till the landscape is translated into her handwriting. People are an important part of a country. For the first time the artist wants to integrate traces / pictorial elements from others – former artists, tourists und locals. She collects and asks for doodles / scribbles / sketches of graffitis in bar tables.
