Artist talk: Jan Krtička and Nicola Turner

We warmly invite you to a presentation of work and sharing of thoughts by our two current residency artists.

Thursday, November 10, 19:00 – 20:30. Skaftfell, top floor.

Sound and installation artist Jan Krtička is based in the Czech Republic, where his work has been widely exhibited. He teaches at the Faculty of Art at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústi nad Labem. Jan’s residency is part of the international collaborative project Gardening of Soul: In Five Chapters, of which Skaftfell is a partner. Funded by the EEA Iceland Liechtenstein Norway Grants, the project explores and commissions public artworks that engage in community building and place making. As part of his residency he is developing a new sound-based artwork using recordings made in Iceland. www.jankrticka.com

Based in Bath, UK, British artist Nicola Turner works mostly with sculpture, including found objects and materials. In her practice she investigates the dissolution of boundaries, liminal states, and the continuous exchange of ecosystems, exploring the interconnection of life and death, human and non-human, attraction and repulsion. During her residency in November Nicola intends to create a new body of work responding to the environment of Seyðisfjörður and its surroundings. www.nicolaturner.art
