The Painterly Self
Now on view in the bistro is an installation of watercolors by the renowned German artist Bernd Koberling (Berlin, 1930), who has summered in neighboring Loðmundarfjörður since 1977, when he was first introduced to the East Fjords by Dieter Roth.
The ten watercolors were all executed in the autumn of 1998, the year of Skaftfell’s founding nearly 25 years ago. In them, one can find reference to the topography and vegetation of Loðmundarfjörður in the colors that expressively evoke the autumn season.
The installation will be on view from September 23 – December 31, 2022.
