Korkimon – Semi-erect and non-threatening

Monday February 25, 19:00 – 21:00, in Herðubreið.
Open until Wednesday February 27, daily 10:00 – 18:00.

Korkimon – Melkorka Katrín Ingibjargardóttir (IS) – presents new work in the Herðubreið gallery, concluding her residency at Skaftfell in January and February 2019.

Korkimon (b. 1995) is a visual artist from Reykjavík, Iceland. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in New York with a focus on visual arts, art history and gender studies. In the year following her graduation she has had two solo exhibitions and participated in multiple group shows in Reykjavík. Korkimon works in numerous media including collage, sculpture, and drawing.

In a world overloaded with information, she eagerly gallops from one particularly interesting hole to the next, with her best plan: no plan. The denouement always ripe with ambiguity and accidental meanings, viscerally fleshy. Every night around 22:00 she starts wondering, is coffee a basic human right?
