Skaftfell warmly welcomes Jonas Bentzer as residency artist in November. In his practice Jonas works conceptually with sculpture and sculpture as an act. The works may contain the conditions for, the traces of, or be an ongoing act. The sculptures are often alive and are part of or constitute a system. His works are of an investigative nature and an attempt to reach out and treat and comprehend our surroundings.
He does this by constructing technical solutions, often times complicated solutions to imitate a simple gesture in nature. Shining a light on these gestures that at first glance seem simple but the more you think about them the more complex they become.
During his stay at Skaftfell, Jonas wants to bring his surroundings into the computer via 3d-scanning and build a digital – VR visual and audible essay around his stay.
