Summer House is a collaborative exhibition by Árni Jónsson and Sigurrós G. Björnsdóttir. It features references to familiar everyday objects and activities, where the rules of daily life soften and the familiar gains new meaning.
My best boil was 7 minutes and 20 seconds.
The next one will be a lifetime.
An important, good and frequently wrung out rag.
A good day for drying, crisp and fresh.
Countless lost bookmarks and toothpicks.
It’s best to read the book in the same place, in a new pair of socks.
Sigurrós G. Björnsdóttir (b. 1991, Reykjavík) is an Icelandic artist based in Antwerp, Belgium. She received an MA in Fine Art from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 2021 and a BA from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2017. Her work spans both two- and three-dimensional media, including sculptures, paper works, and installations. Sigurrós’s work is driven by curiosity, inner tension, and intuition. She draws material from fragmented narratives, peculiar occurrences, and subtle cues in her immediate surroundings, raising questions about the origins of objects, meaning, and coincidence.
Árni Jónsson is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily with woodworking, digital media, and installation. His work is characterized by a simple, humorous, and direct approach, expressing personal thoughts while capturing past or imagined events. Wood serves as the foundation for his ideas, which often evolve into scenes alongside other mediums. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2016 and a master’s degree from the Royal Academy in Antwerp in 2023.
