Anna Ólöf Jansdóttir (b. 1999, Germany) completed a BA in Fine Art at the Iceland University of the Arts in spring 2025. She works with oil painting, bringing the world of the contemporary woman into dialogue with ancient narratives and traditions. In the Icelandic homeland, time seems to stand still as the artist turns her attention to her immediate surroundings. The innocence of the animal stands in contrast to nature, which, for all its beauty, can also be threatening and carries a reminder of the transience of all things. The works raise the question of whether we still possess the same capacity as our ancestors: to experience nature on its own terms.
