Emanuel Schulze is a German artist, born in Bad Saarow and living in Halle (Saale). He is a visual artist and stage designer. He is studying at the „Hochschule für Bildende Künste“ Dresden ( Dresden Akademie of Fine Arts) from 2001-2008.

As a visual artist, he has spent most of the last few years working primarily in painting. Emanuel has received various grants for his painting. His residency at Skaftfell Art Center was made possible with a grant from the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation (Germany). Emanuel is also a set and costume designer. Since 2007, he has regularly designed sets and costumes for a wide variety of theatres in Germany and Switzerland.

In his paintings, he likes to explore the tension between artistic freedom and technical precision. The landscapes emerge as chance-driven painterly processes, which he contrasts with technically constructed elements. This has often resulted in landscapes featuring architecture-like structures. He also produces more free-form paintings. His works evoke contemplative atmospheres that lie between emptiness and abstraction.
