Sindri Dýrason (b. 1997, Reykjavík) graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the Iceland University of the Arts in spring 2023. His practice approaches painting in a broad sense, rooted in public mural work and large-scale pieces that become part of the urban landscape.

Dýrason’s paintings are shaped by an inner world and his heritage from the Eastfjords. The dramatic natural landscape that presides over the region forms an important foundation for his work. Bringing together the natural, the distorted and the fantastical throughout his works on walls and canvas. Six-legged horses roam the landscape, wings carry ships across the sea, and flowers grow from the antlers of reindeers. The tangible world recedes, giving way to the realm of fiction and imagination.

Sindri captures this spirit in a distinctive visual world of his own, one that he continues to explore and translate.
