July 3 – August 16, West Wall Gallery, Skaftfell Bistro. Opening times: Wed-Sun 12:00-17:00. The photo series Hello and Goodbye is a documentation of the short period of family life. Every ten years female members of the artist’s family, consisting of her mother and her three sisters, are photographed in a group photo with all current family members living in each household. Families are ever changing units and the series portrays the changes that happen between each photo shoot. Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir: Mon ciel, mi cielo. What do you really mean?

June 17 – September 6th, 2020 Skaftfell Center for Visual Art’s summer exhibition will be with the Reykjavik based artist Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir (b. 1985). For this project she has chosen to show–alongside her own drawings, digital prints and small scale sculptures–the work of Benedikt Guðmundsson (1907-1960), whose modernist paintings and ceramics she grew up around.  Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir’s works are concerned with ‘the basic gesture of making art and the fundamental building blocks of it – line, colour, composition’ but have the sense of being part of a narrative which is only glimpsed in fragments.
