Listen to the soft rain currently dripping off Skaftfell’s roof contrasting the birds chirping in the garden around the House of Arts in Ústi nad Laben. The Sound Bridge by Jan Krtička was created during his residency at Skaftfell as a part of the international collaboration @gardening_of_soul. The work sonically connects two very distant places and two institutions that collaborate with each other: the Skaftfell Art Center in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland, and the Ústí nad Labem House of Arts of the Faculty of Art and Design of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in the Czech Republic. https://jankrticka.com/SOUNDBRIDGE/

Skaftfell warmly welcomes artist in residence Michael Soltau. Media professor Michael Soltau, born 1953, Oldenburg (Germany) lives and works in Leipzig and Varel. His long-standing artistic work explores analogies between nature and media. This places processes of representation in photographic and multimedia contexts at the forefront. Image and representation, as well as our perception of the world shaped by imaging media, are subjected to a visual, location-specific staging.
