The Thing is

New works by Claudia Hausfeld, Sindri Leifsson, Eva Ísleifsdóttir and Elísabet Brynhildardóttir explore objecthood in a multitude of ways. For the past year, the artists have been engaged in conversation in each others studios and in August 2017 participated in an exhibition in Bjarki’s project space, ca. 1715, run out of a Late-Baroque cabinet in his home. There they presented sketches and preparations for the exhibition, opening their process to an audience while mid way through making new bodies of work. Corrected Vision

We recommend potential guest follow the FB event, see here. “Corrected Vision” is a new installation by artist Jessica MacMillan, where she has turned her bedroom in Skaftfell’s artist residency apartment into a solar observation room. By installing sheets of optical-grade filter over the windows of the room, 99.999% of all light from outside is blocked-and in combination with a completely darkened space inside-leaves the spherical sun as the only visible object.
